As a successful local company that was built-up from scratch with modest means, it is important to Transwaste to share company success and support those in need wherever possible.
At Transwaste, being socially responsible is about so much more than ticking a box. We actively seek initiatives where for the team to get involved. Whilst we donate money through in-house fund-raising activities, we also encourage staff to take time out of their working week, to offer a helping-hand. This boosts morale and it feels good to know that we are making a positive difference to others.
For example in 2021, Transwaste donated over £3,000 to Teenage Cancer Trust. Many of our employees donated generously to provide money and gifts. Ryan, our Health and Safety Manager took it many thousands of steps further, running 5km for 30 days.
Monies collected by Ryan went to the national fund and funds from Transwaste central, the weigh-bridge collection, directors’ contributions and staff, were sent to the local fund at Castle Hill Hospital.
We consulted with Teenage Cancer Trust at Castle Hill Hospital, they preferred a supply of gifts, accessories, toys, vouchers and toiletries suitable for young people. This provided a large stock of items to give to teenagers each time they attended the centre for treatment.
