A simple way for Transwaste to make a positive contribution is to provide free skips and clear the waste. A previous project in Hessle required 50 skips (free of charge). The St Mike’s project only required 2 skips, so Transwaste agreed it was a good opportunity for the team to go along and get stuck. We stayed for the full 10-day build. This was during working hours, but it also extended into the evenings and weekends to ensure the job was completed in time.
Transwaste works in partnership with Hobson and Porter and each year supports Foundations LIVE at Bishop Burton College. Hobson and Porter’s suppliers exhibit and deliver workshops to help young people from the age of 7 (via Children’s University) and college students to inspire and make career decisions.
Transwaste highlights the difference between materials which can be recycled and those which can be transformed into renewable energy. It also increases awareness of the lesser-known job types within construction.
For 10 years, Transwaste has partnered with Smile Foundation. We also sponsor their environmental award which recognises other volunteers.
